Item: Former Boston Celtic arrested in South Lake Tahoe
Details: Former Boston Celtics star, Antoine Walker, was arrested Wednesday evening at Harrah’s Casino in South Lake Tahoe. The arrest came a day after a warrant was issued for Walker’s $822,500 in gambling debts and writing bad checks. The losses are spread across Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. Walker took out markers beginning July 27, 2008, to Jan. 19, 2009. The star forward wrote six checks to Caesars for $100,000 each and four to Planet Hollywood and Red Rock also for $100,000 each.
View: The bad check unit the Clark County District Attorney’s office has statutory fees for bad checks over the amount of $10,000 is 10% of the face amount of the check. The DA will issue two letters urging to pay restitution and warning of possible criminal charges, if there is no response or payment arranged the DA will screen the case for possible criminal prosecution. Prosecution will depend on criminal history, unknown whereabouts, or high volume of additional complaints.
